《异**》从本质上讲，是一部恐怖悬疑片，但是片中还是有很多无意中创造的幽默 。该片翻拍自同名恐怖电影，沿用了原作的故事，片中没有泛滥的切割、浴血、杀戮镜头，却用小岛幽闭的空间和诸多异教象征营造出被恶魔时刻扼住的窒息感，以其干净的惊吓方式在血肉横飞的同类型电影中显得颇有些邪气 。《异**》的原版电影观众并不陌生，该片在男主人公性格上做了一些改变，好莱坞式的恐怖氛围也和老版中的英国式恐怖有了不小的变化，然而因为有珠玉在前，该片的好评率并不高 。
